The Cupid

by

Kali Reyes

The Cupid is a character design based on 17th century Rococo elements, but with a bluer and stylised twist. The big hair with coils is reminiscent of the powdered wigs that were popular during the era, and the theme of “cupid” is meant to call attention to the cherubs that were a popular element in Rococo era paintings. The overall manner of dress is meant to resemble the look of a paige boy.

About

Kali Reyes

Kali Reyes (they/them) is a 2D artist currently based in Metro Manila, Philippines. Their designs focus on bold shapes and brushwork in order to give variety to otherwise conceptually simpler character designs. Kali loves to create stylised work but finds it important to achieve a certain level of believability and tangibility in order to make their concepts feel more real and 3-dimensional.

As of late, Kali is looking for more stable work in the industry while working to expand their current visual library in order to bring life to the character and worlds they have envisioned.
