Kango

by

Chris Howard

Kango depicts the light refueling ship of the same name as it makes its way back to base. The vehicle was designed for the dirty and bleak world of Cascadia, a personal project created by artist Chris Howard to explore how emerging VR tools can be implemented in the design process. Kango was created in part with Oculus Medium, demonstrating how VR can be utilized by concept artists as a powerful creative tool.

About

Chris Howard

Chris Howard is a concept designer based in Los Angeles. As a youth, he spent much of his time taking apart computers, looking through junk yards, and attempting to travel to space. As he matured, his fascination with electronic hardware, science fiction and forgotten tech never faded, leading him westward to pursue his dream career in concept design.

Howard's path eventually took him to Pasadena's ArtCenter College of Design, where he is a recent graduate of their Entertainment Design program. He currently works as a freelance artist and one day hopes to see virtual reality become a ubiquitous, established design tool for all creatives to harness. He still attempts trips to space from time to time.
